how i know asbury memorial is right for me

The church is continually trying something new, searching for different ways for us to still feel like a congregation instead of a lot of individuals.
This is Week 2 of highlighting one of the families.
I made sure to 'be' there for the Povies!
At the end of their onscreen time, Amy, Sarah, Samuel, and Doug donned their face coverings to remind all to be safe and healthy.
(smile!)
One of the segments I most enjoy are these little 'get up and move' bits prior to the sermon.
Today, we were graced with Rabbi Haas' antics, masquerading as a clone of a 1980's fitness guru.
Whether its his summer sermons at my church, his part in the triple faith talks, or his improv acts with or without Odd Lot, he is delightful!
Today, he had us "sweating like a sinner" on a Sabbath - and laughing like loons!
(smile!)

However, it's Reverend Billy Hester who keeps me - and many others - coming back.
This morning, he chose to ignore the Bible passage that UMC had selected for today's sermon.
Instead, the story of Moses and the rules he laid down to keep his people safe was the one he wanted to emphasize.
Moses was a leader who cared about the safety of his followers...
whereas our President, Billy said (!), could learn a thing or two from Moses, especially when it comes to setting a good example by obeying the rules -
just by wearing a face covering.
Wow.
I was definitely right place, right time.
I like that Billy is back at the sanctuary, for the second week now.
I also like that the set for "Man Of La Mancha" is still up.
Perhaps, when it is safe for others to be at the church, the troupe will reprise that show.
That would be very nice.
(smile!)

This was very nice, too!
After the last words of the last prayer
had been spoken,
after the last notes of the last recorded
song had sounded,
Rabbi Haas again claimed the screen,
a la Ferris Bueller post-credits.
What an unexpected bonus!
