That line from "Groundhog Day" popped
into my head a few minutes ago.
I swear, I think I have that movie ingrained
into my DNA at this point.
Since I was dining out with my one-and-only Rogue, it's no wonder that thoughts of this film came to mind.
Joe is in town to hopefully - fingers crossed! -
close on the sale of the Maupas property.
Fortunately, Five Spot was serving, so we
had a leisurely visit, talking as little as
possible about the plague.
How wonderful to see his smiling face!
Definitely different, definitely good.
i thank You, God.
Earlier today, I'd gone to Smitty's to take care of the sales tax calculations.
Business has, of course, crawled to a halt, except for those idiots who want to believe they are on vacation, not coming quickly upon quarantine.
China had the right idea.
Bolt those idiots into their homes.
Yesterday, thanks to enforcement of those strict procedures, China had no new cases of coronavirus infection.
No new cases - for the first time since December 2019.
Definitely different, definitely good.
In plain English: those who are infected have truly been self-isolating (or have died) and are not spreading the virus anymore.
That's incredibly good news for the rest of the world, including the USA.
Social distancing works.
Now, it is up to us to have the courage and mental strength to just stay home for the next two to three weeks.
Fortunately, I have been blessed with an abundance of touch.
Saturday, I had hugs in abundance at Christina's birthday meal.
I had hugs from Kevin on our Magnificent Monday.
This afternoon, my brother Smitty hugged me.
And a hug from Joe this evening came as we were parting.
That's a higher number of embraces than I tend to get during a week.
I'm so grateful for that bounty.
Those treasured touches will have to sustain me during the weeks ahead.
i thank You, God.

My Rogue has finally headed home to ATL, freed from the albatross on Maupas Street.
Hallelujah!
I do so hope his folks will pay him back all the money he has spent on that house, but, at the very least, he won't be having to spend his weekends here anymore, away from his dear Princeton.
Hallelujah!
fb flashback from March 19, 2020:
"No NEW cases of the virus, that is the goal. The coronavirus, SARS-COV-2, COV-19 - by whatever name used, the important fact is that it is a (+)ssRNA and mutates slightly with each new host, just like others in that classification. Specifically, a portion of the virus mimics our own mRNA, the ribonucleic acid that activates the protein factory in our cells. The virus uses that capability to make more of the proteins it needs.
Social distancing is the key to stopping it. Once an adult has contracted the virus, it will be active in their body for roughly two weeks. The downside is that person can be spreading it during those first three days when they may not even be aware they are infected.
Please, use caution, dear family and friends. My heart cannot take more funerals."

Do you know how the virus spread so uickly in South Korea and Iran? The people all attended the same church. All it took was one infected person. Those two countries each have more than 15000 cases. It isn't just family and close friends that got infected. It was everyone who touched anything the infected person had touched after coughing into his/her hand. The virus is active on surfaces for up to TWELVE HOURS. On metal surfaces - like stair rails, door handles - the virus can live more than 24 hours. Act responsibly and be sure to cough into your shirt, not on your hand... and wash, wash, wash those hands.

Social distancing - a temporary measure, not a "forever after" - definitely works. Yesterday, China had NO NEW CASES for the first time since Dec 2019. Now, they have to be mindful of those citizens returning home and bringing the new strain with them. But - and I can't emphasize this enough - we can have hope that we will also reach that goal of NO NEW CASES. ❤ https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/51957756

Tina, is someone contagious during the entire incubation period?
------------------------------------------------
Faustina Smith
Yes. That is why it is imperative to bear in mind that everything YOU touch has been touched by someone who may have coughed into their hand. Seriously.

Michelle Miller
Faustina Smith Indeed. Stay safe, my friend.
