back to the carnival, off to the yard

Oddly, neither experience had been quite satisfying, but for different reasons.

Was there something amiss with the busily bouncing bevy of brightly banded bees?
Oh, not at all!
They were part of the reason I was there!
The sight of them bob-bob-bobbing along had captured my fancy yesterday, but my phone-camera was not in my pocket, but at home.
And just where was I?
At Oglethorpe Mall's parking lot, of all places!
Dreamland Carnival was ensconced there, with its seven-story high Ferris Wheel and swings and twirling doggies little tykes fire engine!
At the opposite end of the impromptu fairground were more classic rides: the Landslide, the Cyclone, and, the best ride I saw, the Sizzler!
Not only was that one fast, but it lasted a long time.
I didn't ride it, but I saw plenty of adults and older kids screaming and enjoying it!
The Carousel would have been more my speed, but only children who were less than 48" in height were allowed to right the ponies.
Sure, I could have ridden around on one of the two sleds... but, no.
The Orient Express looked like it would have been fun, but, again, only children were invited to board.
That was just as well!
I'd been there yesterday when the Dragon was draggin' on those rails.
(Got my little joke? Hahahaha!)
Honestly, they'd had to offload the beast, then get six workers to literally lift it back to the starting point.
I'd clapped, of course, to applaud their efforts!
These little dragons had no problems with maintaining speed, though!
They had the stamina to repeatedly fly up into the air, storming the castle in their midst!
As soon as that phrase popped into my head, I thought of "The Princess Bride" and smiled.
That was a whole lot of smiling at the carnival!
(smile!)
As for the Mystery Mansion, I'd watch folks coming out of it yesterday, but decided not to partake.
Running the gamut of headless knight to headless pianist on its exterior was enough for me!
Beth and Jeramy's kids had assured me it wasn't scary... but, no thanks, y'all!
I'll just hang out and talk with your mom!
(smile)
They had been at the carnival for most of the day with the six kids.
I'd come yesterday hoping to catch the Victoria Circus... and I did!
Sure, it was just the last ten or fifteen minutes, with the mother and son motorcylists in the Wheel of Death, but it was more than they'd seen.
The circus act was packed up for this last day.
Drats!

That was okay, as I'd only planned to be there about an hour or so.
Hey, it was only two dollars admittance to the carnival and I'd had my funnel cake yesterday.
Honestly, I was just wanting to snap the photos I'd missed taking on Saturday!
At 3 PM, I wanted to be at Starland Yard to support young writers... and I was.
In fact, I'd been there a half-hour when I'd seen these handcuffs and realized: I was not chained there.
So, I left.
The DEEP kids would have to see me some other time.
That claustrophobic, fenced-in, jam-packed area was simply not kosher with me.
Now, I'm off to see "The Gentlemen" again.
Unchained and on the run, that's me!
(smile!)
