3 strikes + 3 errors = home run!

One of the nice things about "Quantum Leap" is getting to see favorite episodes, or favorite scenes, repeatedly.
The series has begun a new run on Comet TV, and tonight was the entirely of the original two-hour pilot.
I was most concerned with the last twenty-two minutes of the second half.
The baseball was what kept me watching, especially after a 22 minute conversation with Mister Willie during the last part of the first half.
I wanted to see Tim Fox of the Waco Bombers do his thing one more time, fueled by Sam Beckett's elation at having spoken to his father on the phone.
Oh, yeah!

So, he gleefully steps up to bat,
the team down one run in this championship game.

Swing.... and a miss! Strike one!

Swing.... and a miss! Strike two!

Swing.... and a miss! Strike thr-
but the catcher miffed it!
Run, Sam! Run!

Sam beats feet toward first, surprised with everyone else by the good luck that has befallen him.
What should have been a last out has become a second chance!
Then the catcher finally grabs the ball, heaving it toward first...
and well over the baseman's head.
Run, Sam! Run!

Run he does, ball cap lost along the way, hair blowing freely as he races toward second,
as he continues on toward third,
with Al caught by baseball fever and urging:
run, Sam! Run!

On and on he runs!
Meanwhile, the first baseman misjudged his throw toward third, watching as it sailed well out of reach of that man's glove...
watching as the Fox-man rounded third and headed toward home.
Run, Sam! Run!

And it looks like the Foxy has a real possibility of turning the catcher's error on his third strike into an unearned home run!
All he has to do is face the catcher one more time...
all he has to do is throw his body into a slide for one last push...
go, Sam! Go!

"Safe!"
The umpire's shout was not even a second after Sam's fingers touched the left edge of home plate.
Safe!!!

And so am I, from the hurricane reforming and heading north.

Safe.

i thank You, God.
