doubling up in movies, again!

Partly it was to get the taste of "The Green Knight" out our mouths - yuck!!!

Mostly, though, it was because Carolyn and I really love "Jungle Cruise" and its similar romantic-comedy-adventure notes to both classic Disney movies and "The African Queen"... plus, it leaves the BigD screening room after tonight.

Honestly, I just may see it thrice!

(smile!)

The last double I'd pulled was two weeks earlier, taking in "Space Jam: A New Legacy" for a second time.

Carolyn missed out on seeing those with me, but she and I did catch "Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard" later that day.

So, that was a double screening with a doubleheader week for me!

Great fun out of the heat!

And what did I see for free the week before that with my AMC A*List?

Well, I went for three featuring strong females in the lead... and, befittingly, saw them solo.

"Black Widow" was in the BigD room, of course, as that was its opening week; I loved the interplay of the sisters!

I saw "A Quiet Place Part II" on a sunny afternoon and was surprised that this supposed horror movie was actually a very good science fiction film!

The weakest in this trio was "@zola", which turned out to be fairly bad soft porn based on, of all things, tweets; it's only redeeming factor - well, I regarded it in that light - was the parade of swinging dicks, on sixteen men of diverse age and build and ethnicity - during the night of money-making.

I think I'd be glad to see that ten-minute section again!

(smile!

But just that section.

I'll take a hard pass before I'll watch the rest of that tripe ever again.

The same goes for the movie at the top of this post.

Carolyn and I both had expected a medieval tale of gallantry... and got a mild-mannered horror flick with a horrific sound track, with an ending that reflected that we had been as duped as the lead character had been.

Clearly, a bit more discretion may be needed on my part, right?

But how do you find the gems without sifting through the load of rocks?

Exactly.

That's what makes the A*List so valuable to me: I can test drive three movies a week, knowing that there's gold in them there reels!

(Hey Frank would love that joke!)
