pink southern snow and green tumbleweeds

What a lovely blanket of snow beneath my Japanese magnolia!

What beautiful, fresh, green leaves where once the blossoms stood on its branches!

I took advantage of this last warm day to stand in the street and admire this view... and then headed to the back yard.

The sun had played peek-a-boo with the incoming clouds all morning, but now it was out, bidding me to do the same.

The tumbleweeds out back needed to be rounded up and mowed down, just as the ones in front had been two weeks earlier.

The swath cut then was trying to catch up with the wild part - time to put a halt to that!

I thought I'd have a go at these low-hanging branches, too.

They're on an ancient crepe myrtle in John's yard, but I periodically try to halt their encroachment above my little deck.

When I'm having to duck to walk in that side yard, something needs to be done!

And now it has been!

My 5'4" self can even walk under the dripping moss when I'm on the porch - hooray for me!

It was quite a struggle, holding down a branch with one hand while sawing away at it with the other, but I am rather pleased with the resulting brighter appearance!

I'm so glad the sun invited me outside to get this done!

Tuesday looks to be twenty degrees colder for its high, so I know I'll be hunkering down in my little house for the reset of the week.

As I have told folks for many years now, I'm a real wienie about the cold.

At least there'll be sunshine by Thursday!
