constellations not yet named

Remember how I said I'd posted the photo of my bandaged arm on facebook, to let all know I'd had been vaccinated?

Well, among the many comments I'd received, all of which were positive, one was from my first niece's Great-Aunt Marcia.

She said, "What a pretty arm!"

She went on to say how much it looked like Christina's arm.

After thanking her, I told her my thoughts about these melanin concentrations that mark me as my father's daughter.

"I like to think of my moles as my personal star system, with constellations not yet named."

It was one of those fully-formed statements that pop out of my mouth without me even consciously forming the words, but making clear the belief in my heart.

The configuration of spots differs enough from one location to the next to make it clear that there is no special pattern, simply a wealth of moles and freckles.

Some are singles, some appear as distinct pairs, and some form gentle arches and curves across my skin.

On my right arm, their placement worked for a henna tattoo of my Chinese astrological sign, the Dog.

That was on one of my many trips to Daytona Beach in recent years.

Perhaps, one day, I'll make that tattoo a more permanent addition.

After all, it greatly resembles someone dancing exuberantly.

That certainly describes me to a T, doesn't it?

(smile!)
