waiting for the battery to charge

Remember when I washed clothes before my trip to Hilton Head?
Oh, did I not mention that I was going away for a while?
Well, I did leave town for a week, and had a lovely time!
I had thought a cousin was joining me, but that fell through.
No worries - I was still on holiday!
I did the laundry the Wednesday before I left, mostly because it was that time again and I needed clean clothes...
the underwear drawer was empty!
(smile!)
While at Sandfly Laundry, I checked the stand for the latest issue of Connect Savannah  - and found three issues there!
What a bonanza!
Today, as the weather has cooled to the low 80's, I decided to get a start on mowing the yards before the rain arrives on Tuesday.
At least the cooler temperatures have slowed the grass growth!
I began in the back, mowing long diagonals between my house and the one behind me, for all of the yard between the bird bath and the Sullivan's pool.
That certainly felt like an accomplishment!
Then I polished off the smaller half of the front yard in its entirety!
The other half, however, will have to wait.
I had barely re-opened the chevrons when the battery stopped.
Fine, I thought, I was hot and ready for a break, and maybe some lunch.
The battery was still only half-charged.
Drats.
And that's when I saw the trio of Connects and headed for a Jonesin' Crossword!
What a wonderful idea!
The clue for the topic was: "Home Repairs" - visiting some unusual places.
Well, alrighty then!
Four of the clues were for items that contained five circled letters.
That meant the letters in those five spaces would be repeated, though not necessarily in the same order of their previous appearance.
Very good!
(I will be underlining those circled letters.)
The first clue was for 17-Across: "Replaces, as with a charged battery"
Hahahaha! Hahaha! I was definitely right place, right time!
So, with the aid of the other clues, I solved for the correct phrase:
S-W-I-T-C-H-E-S-O-U-T

The next special clue was for 24-Across: "Let's get together sometime"
Oh, a reminder that lunch with Dawn is due!
W-E-S-H-O-U-L-D-M-E-E-T-U-P

The third special clue was at 39-Across: "More than enough at the buffet"
None of those for me for almost a year, but I remember those
G-E-N-E-R-O-U-S-H-E-L-P-I-N-G-S
Hahahaha! Hahaha!

The fourth clue began at 50-Across: "They may involve blue material"
At first I thought of Elvis' shoes, but the phrase actually was
B-U-R-L-E-S-Q-U-E-S-H-O-W-S
Oh, ho ho! Been a while since I've been at one of those in person!
No, "Kinky Boots" doesn't count - that was a musical drag show, not burlesque!
(smile!
So what did it all mean?
There were no more clues with circled letters in their answers...
however, there was a clue at 61-Across that was helpful:
"Major book publishing company (or what the circled squares contain)"
Well, have you guessed the answer???
It's really rather funny, especially to a girl who loves puns!

R-A-N-D-O-M-H-O-U-S-E
Isn't that a hoot and a half?
Hahahaha! Hahaha!
Now, let me check that battery and see if I can finish the front yard.
Later!
